New York Giants 7-Round 2022 Mock Draft: A Frenzy On The OLine
Round 5, 172nd Overall: Damarri Mathis, DB, Pittsburgh
Even if Bradberry stays on for another season, it seems unlikely that the New York Giants exit the 2022 NFL Draft without selecting a corner. They do have several young players under contract, but a new regime could see a tweak in that area.
Damarri Mathis is an intriguing name on day three. Pittsburgh defensive backs have been coached really well and have carved out roles in the NFL. Schoen was a part of the Bills organization who drafted Dane Jackson, and he has stuck on the roster and played well. Mathis has good technique, sufficient long speed, and plays well against the run. He could offer some inside/outside versatility.
Round 6, 180th Overall: Tyquan Thornton, WR, Baylor
As much as it looks like the wide receiver room is full for the New York Giants, it’s important to note that no one really came close to the 1,000-yard mark in 2021. Kenny Golladay doesn’t look to be worth his contract, but there’s obviously hope with Kadarius Toney.
Still, getting more weapons to help Jones isn’t a bad thing. Tyquan Thornton might have a big week at the combine in terms of the speed and explosion drills. His body type is pretty rare, but the size, explosiveness, and catch radius could give him the chance to earn a role in an offense.
