Round 2, 36th Overall: Lewis Cine, S, Georgia

The New York Giants have thrown a lot of money into their secondary in recent years, especially at the corner position. Adoree Jackson and James Bradberry have received big contracts, but now with the news that Bradberry could be released or traded, it’s something to watch as the offseason progresses.

Safety is a position that’s gotten better over time. Xavier McKinney played some good ball in his second season, and he has the versatility to move around when asked to do so. The Bills have a great safety duo in Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer, and Schoen may opt to get a good young duo for the Big Apple.

The safety class has some intriguing names, and Lewis Cine would be a great option here in the second round. Cine may not test like the most athletic of the safeties at the combine, but there’s no need to fret about those numbers. When the tape goes on, Cine is a talented playmaker. His processing stands out and he’s quick to close downhill. Cine is a very good tackler in space, and he can operate near the line of scrimmage or in a shell defense. Cine and McKinney would be a fun duo for years to come.
