2-Round 2022 NFL Mock Draft: Pre-Combine Mock Has Trades Galore!
By Hunter Haas
The Buccaneers won 11+ games in each of the past two seasons, and have a Super Bowl LV ring to show for it. Unfortunately for them, the Greatest of All Time decided to hang up the cleats for good this offseason. Tampa Bay is now in an awkward position of having a contending roster without a viable quarterback on it.
The Bucs could look to draft a quarterback at No. 27, but it’s likely they bring in a veteran that gives them a chance to compete in 2022. Jimmy Garoppolo and Carson Wentz are both available, and can do just enough to keep the Bucs relevant in the NFC.
One thing Tampa Bay must improve is their ability to cover the opponents’ best wide receiver. Andrew Booth Jr. would bring some much needed juice to the secondary, as the Clemson product has real potential to be a CB1 in the NFL. He has production (five interceptions) to match his raw talent, too.
They could look towards the offensive line or a defensive lineman here, but a run of Karlaftis-Wyatt-Linderbaum-Johnson was the worst case scenario, even if Booth is a great consolation prize this late in the first of this 2022 NFL Mock Draft.
Nakobe Dean was the heart and soul of the best defense in the country in 2022. Some players jump off the screen while watching tape, but none more than Dean. He used his infectious energy and playmaking ability to be a constant spark plug for the unit. Dean did a little bit of everything for the Bulldogs, even adding legitimate pass rushing production to his resume during the final season in Athens.
The Packers might bring back De’Vondre Campbell, but it is more likely that he finds a bigger paycheck elsewhere. If this is the case, Green Bay will actively be looking for his replacement in the 2022 NFL Draft. Dean’s size concerns are what makes him available at the backend of the first round, but he plays bigger and faster than he actually is, making him worth the risk at pick 28.
