Round 4, 112th Overall: Cole Strange, OL, Chattanooga

The Atlanta Falcons invested in the offensive line in the 2021 NFL Draft, selecting Jalen Mayfield in the third round and Drew Dalman in the fourth round to help with the interior of the offensive line. Alas, neither has really put it together so far. Mayfield hasn’t been good and Dalman, like Matt Hennessy, struggles with power on the interior despite the fit as a zone center. That type might need to take a backseat going forward.

The Falcons select Cole Strange here, which could provide some stability to shaky guard/center group. Strange made some headlines in Mobile earlier this month, and he has the power and anchor to handle pocket pushing types on the interior. He took snaps at center and guard and has that versatility to work in his favor.

Round 5, 150th Overall: J.T. Woods, S, Baylor

Hopefully Richie Grant gets more snaps in 2022 and can make an impact, but the safety position isn’t one that should be ignored this offseason. Versatile safeties are the move going forward, and Baylor’s J.T. Woods is a very intriguing name later in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Woods has impressive speed, and has the potential to be a chess piece on defense at corner and free safety. Still, if he sticks at safety, the ground he can cover will be a big selling point. He’s shown flashes to read the QB’s eyes and finish with turnovers.
