Jacksonville Jaguars protect Trevor Lawrence in 7-round 2022 Mock Draft

Round 6, Pick 195: Chase Lucas, CB, Arizona State
The NFL Draft landscape will look a bit different for the next five years or so due to the COVID season. The 2020 season didn’t count against eligibility, so there’s players like Chase Lucas who played five seasons. That can help stats, but it can also cause older rookies. It’ll depend on how teams weight all the factors.
In the case of Lucas, he’s played 51 college football games for the Sun Devils. The downside is his worst full season statistically came in 2021. However, there’s clearly talent there. He totaled 28 passes defended at Arizona State and tallied over 200 tackles. This is another upside pick for the Jaguars late in this 2022 NFL Mock draft.
Round 6, Pick 196: Isaac Taylor-Stuart, CB, USC
Not only do the Jacksonville Jaguars have four picks in the sixth round, but two are back-to-back. This really opens up opportunities for them to do a few different things. Here, they decide to double-dip in the secondary with two very different players. While Lucas was experienced in college, Isaac Taylor-Stuart is on the other end of the equation.
Taylor-Stuart played just 24 games at USC and didn’t really have any stats that jumped off the page. However, a 6-foot-2 200 cornerback is intriguing, especially in an NFL that is trending towards safety-linebacker hybrids.
