Sincere McCormick, RB, UTSA: 2022 NFL Draft Scouting Report
Background
Sincere McCormick was born on September 10, 2000, in Long Beach, California, to Anthony McCormick and Precious Thompson. He attended Judson High School in Converse, Texas, which is 15 miles northeast of downtown San Antonio. McCormick made a small impact as a high school sophomore, accumulating 971 yards from scrimmage and 8 rushing touchdowns.
He really shined as a high school junior, earning first team all-state honors after rushing for 1,211 yards and 13 touchdowns. In what will become a theme for McCormick, his team had a nice year, going 10-2 and reaching the area round of the state playoffs.
In his senior year, Sincere McCormick really excelled as he was named first team All-District 26-6A. He ran for 1,489 yards and 22 touchdowns on an astronomical 10.3 yards per carry while his team had tremendous success. Judson went 13-1 in McCormick’s senior year, took home the district championship, and made the Class 6A division 1 quarterfinal round of the playoffs.
Perhaps because of his small stature (5’9” 205), Sincere McCormick was only lightly recruited. He was rated as a 3-star prospect by 247Sports and received offers from Colorado, Syracuse, Memphis, Tulane, UTEP, and of course UTSA.
One of Sincere McCormick’s best traits as a 2022 NFL Draft prospect is his consistent production. He’s not a player who had one good season and decided to declare for the draft. In his freshman year at UTSA in 2019, McCormick basically rewrote the school record books and set a bevy of freshman school marks. He was also recognized as the Conference USA Freshman of the year due to the 1,177 scrimmage yards and 9 total touchdowns he racked up on 5.9 yards per touch.
2020 was Sincere McCormick’s true breakout as he took home Conference USA Offensive Player of the honors and finished second in the country in rushing yards with 1,467. He averaged an efficient 5.9 yards per carry and scored 11 touchdowns on the ground.
We’ve already covered his outstanding 2021 campaign, but it’s worth noting that McCormick has shown something that not all young running backs do: receiving ability. In each of his three seasons he recorded at least 20 catches for at least 130 yards. This versatility should help his draft stock and make him a more appealing 2022 NFL Draft prospect.
