Wide Receiver

We know that McDaniel is going to do everything possible to make Waddle a focal point for the Miami Dolphins, and there’s a good chance Waddle is once again near the top of the league in terms of touches. However, other than Waddle and DeVante Parker, there isn’t much in the receiver room.

This is really the biggest question in terms of what Mike McDaniel and the Dolphins will look for in terms of style. They could go after one of Chris Godwin or Michael Gallup, who win over the middle of field with reliability and at three levels, including the catch point. The other to watch would be Cedrick Wilson, who is a flexible and explosive athlete who can make things happen post-catch.

In an offense that looks for reliability over the middle of the field and explosive playmaking after the catch, the conversation probably starts with someone like Jameson Williams, who has the field-tilting speed to score from anywhere. His catch radius and separation quickness make for the potential to be a complete player.

If he’s not available (which is likely), there are plenty of others. Christian Watson has that speed to threaten defenses with the ball in his hands. Wan’Dale Robinson is a guy you can scheme touches for to make plays. The same goes for Calvin Austin III, who offers a bit more using his speed and flexibility to separate in a variety of ways. Khalil Shakir isn’t as explosive, but he’d thrive in the slot.

It’s going to be a fun offseason for the Miami Dolphins, because of Mike McDaniel potentially looking at a complete overhaul on offense. With a plethora of cap space and enough 2022 NFL Draft capital, buckle up.
