Miami Dolphins Could See Overhaul On Offense After Mike McDaniel Hire
Running Back
The Miami Dolphins do have a few running backs under contract for 2022, but it feels like this is the year where they make a big move at the position, whether it’s adding a free agent and looking in the middle rounds of the 2022 NFL Draft, or potentially starting the run at running back by getting their guy first.
Finding the potential combination of a workload runner who possesses the vision to find cutback lanes and anticipate those openings in zone, while also displaying the burst and toughness to hit the gap hard in power narrows the search a little. There’s always the option of choosing familiarity. Both Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson are free agents, and Mike McDaniel could be a driving force to get one or both to the Sunshine State.
The 2022 NFL Draft has a clear favorite in terms of fit for the Miami Dolphins. It has to start with BYU’s Tyler Allgeier. Allgeier is an impressive blend of vision, burst, contact balance, and effort to finish every run. His eyes and processing skills show up on film consistently. It may take moving up from their fourth round selection, but it would be well worth it.
Otherwise, Breece Hall will be a favorite to be a Dolphin when the dust settles in May. Hall’s ability to make defenders miss in tight quarters, the stop/start burst, and the right amount of patience mixed with reactive decision making makes him RB1 for a lot of teams. He can take pressure off the passing game immediately and be a feature back.
