2022 NFL Mock Draft: Picks 1-4

1. Jacksonville Jaguars: Evan Neal, OT, Alabama

The Jacksonville Jaguars start things off here, and the top pick will likely stay the same in most mocks going forward. The Doug Pederson hire should ease some concerns about the well-being of Trevor Lawrence, and protecting him should be a top priority.

Evan Neal has exceptional size, power, and fleet feet at tackle. The athleticism is there as a run blocker, and he improved in pass protection moving over to the left in 2021.

2. Detroit Lions: Aidan Hutchinson, EDGE, Michigan

The Detroit Lions look locked in here in this 2022 NFL Mock Draft, and it’s another pick that’s unlikely to change before April, especially if he’s available. The trenches have been beefed up in Detroit, but they’re missing a top edge rusher to get after the quarterback. Aidan Hutchinson has the production, athleticism, and technique to make an early splash in his NFL career.

3. Houston Texans: Ikem Ekwonu, OT, North Carolina State

The Houston Texans are a bit of an enigma, and the pick reflects that a bit in this 2022 NFL Mock Draft. Houston has Laremy Tunsil at left tackle, but could give the offensive line a boost with the selection of Ikem Ekwonu. Ekwonu brings the mauler mentality in the run game, and the worst case scenario for him is becoming an elite guard to secure the left side of the line.

4. New York Jets: Kayvon Thibodeaux, EDGE, Oregon

Getting a steal at four isn’t usually a thing, but the New York Jets do here in this 2022 NFL Mock Draft. Kayvon Thibodeaux might be the best player in the 2022 NFL Draft, and his upside as a pass rusher is sky high. He has the elite bend and athleticism to rush the passer at a high level, and is already a great run defender. Robert Saleh would love to have Thibodeaux in his defense.
