2022 NFL Draft: 5 Senior Bowl Players the Detroit Lions Could Draft
3. Channing Tindall, LB, Georgia
The Detroit Lions got quite a bit out of their linebacker room in 2021 relative to expectations. Jalen Reeves-Maybin played some better ball down the stretch, and while he had some growing pains, Derrick Barnes had some flashes in his rookie campaign. Reeves-Maybin is set to hit free agency though.
The unit could still use a boost, it wouldn’t be shocking to see the Lions peek at the linebacker position on day two of the 2022 NFL Draft. It’s a deeper group with some intriguing names, and a couple of them are Georgia Bulldogs.
Despite that rough rep versus Robinson, Channing Tindall is a player that the Lions could select. He has the hard-nosed mentality the Lions will like on their defense and in the locker room, showing off impressive force when flying around the field to make tackles. His ability to explode off his plant foot changing direction is impressive, and the closing speed is there.
When Tindall is kept clean, he’s a menace. There are some occasions where he gets moved away from the play against offensive linemen, and his eye discipline needs some work, but as he develops, he can be another core special teamer for the Lions with the athleticism and toughness to eventually be a stalwart on their defense.
