Round 2, 52nd Overall: Sean Rhyan, OT, UCLA

It was a rough season for the offensive line for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2021, and youth really showed. Trai Turner felt like glue holding the unit together, and rookie Dan Moore (from Texas A&M) actually continued to get better as the season went on. Right tackle wasn’t really solved, Kevin Dotson didn’t have his best season, and third round pick Kendrick Green was downright awful at center. Maybe Green can transition to guard, but running it back isn’t a good idea.

It’s the first of two offensive line selections in this Steelers 2022 NFL Mock Draft, and it’s a good one. It’s hard to imagine either Zach Banner or Joe Haeg starting the season as the right tackle, and they don’t with Sean Rhyan being the selection.

Rhyan has flown a bit under the radar in the last couple months, but he’s among the best at tackle after the top three prospects in the 2022 NFL Draft. Rhyan has the experience at tackle, and could come in and start immediately.

Rhyan’s movement skills are very good in pass protection, and he has the power in his lower half to anchor. In his matchup versus Kayvon Thibodeaux in 2021, Rhyan held up well handling speed to power. He can kick over and be the starter on the right side.
