NFL: Predicting the week one starting quarterback for all 32 teams

Indianapolis Colts: Carson Wentz
The 2022 season will be a pivotal marker for both the Indianapolis Colts and Carson Wentz. Frank Reich will be entering his fifth season at the helm of the Colts and it’s been a bit of a roller coaster. He’s posted a winning season in three of the four seasons thus far, but the 9-8 finish in 2021 was a bit underwhelming.
As for Wentz under center, this could be his last big shot at proving himself at the NFL level. Wentz and Reich have had success with Wentz bring third in the MVP voting in 2017, but that success just hasn’t returned.
If things go south in 2022 for Wentz and the Colts it could spell a bit of a reset in Indianapolis, which include someone new running the show as general manager. From now moving forward into the 2022 season, Wentz can be let go with no dead cap against the Colts and that will stick for the rest of his contract. It will now become a year-to-year opportunity for Wentz.
Wentz looked better in 2021 than he has in previous seasons, so hopefully another offseason to settle in with the Colts will allow him to get back to his game and the Colts back to the playoffs.
