Round 2, 45th Overall: Coby Bryant, CB, Cincinnati

The Baltimore Ravens have an interesting situation at the cornerback position this offseason. Both the aforementioned Averett and Jimmy Smith are free agents, and while there’s a solid trio in house for the 2022 season (Marlon Humphrey, Marcus Peters, Tavon Young), thinking long-term at an important position is the right call.

The 2022 NFL Draft offers a deep class at corner, and there will be players in every round that fit the Ravens and what they want to do on defense. If anything changes with Wink Martindale out, still finding someone who can thrive in man coverage will be crucial.

Coby Bryant would be an interesting selection in the second round. Bryant was an integral part of a Bearcats defense that features several future NFL players, and he ended up winning the Thorpe Award as the nation’s best defensive back.

Bryant plays with great patience, rarely opening up his hips too early. He’s got the length to disrupt throwing lanes and plays physical at the catch point, and has some good reps of late PBUs. He’s efficient in changing direction, sinking his hips quickly and exploding off his plant foot. Bryant showed out at the Senior Bowl and proved he can be an instant-impact playmaker. He would be a fine addition to a Ravens secondary that needs to work on building depth.
