Baltimore Ravens 7-Round 2022 Mock Draft: Defense, Trenches Aplenty
Round 1, 14th Overall: DeMarvin Leal, DL, Texas A&M
As mentioned already, there’s plenty that could change along the defensive line for the Baltimore Ravens in 2022, especially if Williams, Houston, and Campbell all don’t return. It will open the door for Justin Madubuike to handle a full load, and he’s been playing well enough to earn that.
What’s really interesting is how versatile Campbell was and how important that was to the Ravens front the past few seasons. If they continue down that route, the first round presents an opportunity to draft another versatile defensive lineman. In this simulated mock, DeMarvin Leal is indeed the pick here.
Leal is a bit of a tweener, listed at 290 pounds. He played all over the line for the Aggies, from 5-tech to 3-tech and even some snaps at nose tackle. Leal is twitched up for his size and plays with impressive quickness. He also defends the run well, stacking and shedding blocks with an impressive push-pull move.
The Ravens can get creative with his deployment, letting him attack gaps and be a force in the run game in the B and C-gaps. The question is, where he does he play long-term? The Ravens could develop him and work to get him inside, but his movement would make the defensive line more dangerous and tougher to handle.
