The Carolina Panthers have drafted defense in the first round each of the last three seasons and the 2022 NFL Draft might not be any different. Carolina isn’t set to lose too much on the offensive side of the ball and while quarterback could be tempting here, the Panthers might not be ready to move on from Sam Darnold just yet.

The 2019 NFL Draft saw Carolina take Brian Burns in the first. In 2020 they took Derrick Brown with the seventh overall pick. Now, for the third year in a row the Panthers will be selecting in the top eight. Despite the investments in the defensive line, Jordan Davis could make a lot of sense for Carolina here in this 2022 NFL Mock Draft.

Brown is listed at 6-foot-5 326. Davis clocks in at a similar size, 6-foot-6 340. If the Panthers want two anchors on the defensive line that can stuff the run up the middle, it’s hard to form a better duo than these two would provide.

Davis could step in and fill the role of DaQuan Jones who is set to enter free agency and would upgrade the spot as well. Within this division there’s already Alvin Kamara in a New Orleans offense that might need to rely on the run more. Who knows what Tampa Bay will do and Cordarrelle Patterson burst onto the scene in Atlanta.

Long story short, Carolina needs to be able to plug the run in the NFC South and pairing Davis with Brown would be a huge step in the right direction.
