2022 NFL Draft: Offensive line dominates top five in 2022 NFL Mock Draft
By Kyle Edmond
27. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Perrion Winfrey, DL, Oklahoma
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers could enter a stage of flux with Tom Brady now retired. They have the pieces in place to be a contender, except for a quarterback, but cap issues will soon set in. Pieces will start to leave and unless they fill the void they could be left in football purgatory as an annual .500 team.
One such position that could be hit hard this offseason is the defensive line. Vita Vea could end up being the only piece that returns. The list of players that could leave in free agency includes Ndamukong Suh, Jason Pierre-Paul, William Gholston and Steve McLendon. Even if some come back, they won’t have the money to bring them all back. The get a talented player in this 2022 NFL Mock Draft.
Standing 6-foot-4 and weighing in just shy of 300 pounds, Perrion Winfrey could be the perfect fit for this Tampa Bay defensive line. His only knock is experience.
Winfrey played just two seasons at Oklahoma, totaling only 21 games. He made the most of it with 16.5 tackles for loss and six sacks, but that lack of experience will hurt a bit in the draft process.
Winfrey has potential and the stats he does have show that. If he tests well and impresses at the Combine and Pro Day then the Bucs could be very interested in him if he’s still available.
