24. Dallas Cowboys: Daxton Hill, S, Michigan

Scouting Report. S. Michigan. 24. player. Pick Analysis. Daxton Hill. 123

The Dallas Cowboys selection of Trevon Diggs last season worked out rather well. Diggs picked off 11 passes. Only two other players in the entire NFL had more than five. However, there’s more to the story on Diggs.

Diggs was one of just 10 players targeted over 100 times this past season as a defender. He gave up the most receiving yards in the league and opposing offenses averaged 16.8 yards per completion when throwing to the guy Diggs was covering. He was also seventh for the most air yards given up and one of just three players in the NFL to allow over 400 yards after the catch.

So, yes he made 11 interceptions, but how much of that came from quantity not quality? The fact of the matter is that Dallas needs to get Diggs help in the secondary. The interceptions are great, but they need to stop the ball on the other plays, too.

For Daxton Hill, he doesn’t intercept the ball, but he does just about everything else. Sounds like a good pairing for Diggs, right? This past season, Hill had eight passes defended and made 69 tackles. Those are some nice stats and should entice the Cowboys to look his way when exploring their options to support Diggs in the secondary.
