21. New England Patriots: Chris Olave, WR, Ohio State

Scouting Report. Ohio State. Chris Olave. 47. Pick Analysis. WR. 21. player

The New England Patriots and Jameson Williams seems like a match made in heaven. With Williams’ injury and ability, he’s the prototypical Bill Belichick pick. However, with the lack of wide receivers off the board at this point, the Patriots have players with equivalent talent to Williams available here instead in this 2022 NFL Mock Draft.

Mac Jones looks like the real deal in New England. He made the Pro Bowl as a rookie and should continue to grow as he adapts to the NFL game. Now, the Patriots can focus on assembling pieces around him and building the defense.

Jones was able to make the Pro Bowl with a wide receiver room that largely consisted of Nelson Agholor, Jakobi Meyers and Kendrick Bourne. New England might be looking to add another weapon out wide for Jones.

The last first round wide receiver for the Patriots didn’t pan out too well. The good news is that Chris Olave should be different. While Olave never posted a 1,000-yard season at Ohio State, he impressed in other ways, specifically his knack for finding the end zone.

Over his last 31 games with the Buckeyes, going back to the 2019 season, Olave totaled 32 touchdowns. That’s the type of talent this New England offense needs for Jones to continue to progress.
