17. Los Angeles Chargers: Travon Walker, EDGE, Georgia

Scouting Report. EDGE. Travon Walker. 17. Pick Analysis. Georgia. player. 13

Now into the second half of the first round of this 2022 NFL Mock Draft, we’re getting to teams that don’t have as clear cut needs. Most of these teams have pieces in place and are looking for the final one to set them up for a championship run.

For the Chargers, they already have Joey Bosa coming off the edge, but they lack a compliment to him. Offenses have the ability to look for Bosa and neutralize his force. If the Chargers can add another weapon off the opposite edge, the LA defense could go to the next level.

That player could be Travon Walker. At 6-foot-5 275, Walker will be a tough matchup for any offensive line on his own. Put him opposite Bosa and it could be a nightmare for opposing teams to try and create a game plan for.

Walker’s biggest attribute was his ability to get into the backfield. He posted 7.5 tackles for loss along with six sacks. Now, he’ll need to improve his tackle total in general, but his ability to create pressure is what the Chargers need at this point. He’ll have the time to grow and improve, but if he can just compliment Bosa, that’ll be enough to show his worth with this pick.
