2022 NFL Draft: 5 Senior Bowl Players The New York Jets Could Draft
4. Kerby Joseph, S, Illinois
This would be a super fun add for the New York Jets. The future of Marcus Maye in gang green is muddy, especially after a major injury suffered during the 2021 season. There isn’t much depth at the position right now, and former third round pick Ashtyn Davis hasn’t shown much to this point.
Kerby Joseph would be a fun addition to the secondary. Joseph was a late breakout for the Illini like McBride. He had five interceptions and two passes defensed working on the back end of the Illinois defense, and was crucial in close wins. Joseph has the range to cover enough ground on the back end, and can be an “umbrella” in an NFL defense. The ball skills and hand-eye coordination are there, and he brings a good edge as a tackler.
Joseph showed off those skills in Mobile, coming down with two picks, one in a 7-on-7 and the other off a tip in a 1v1. In a safety class that lost a couple of prospects via a return to school, Joseph could be a riser throughout the 2022 NFL Draft process. He could go on day two, and the New York Jets would be a very good destination for him.
