2022 NFL Mock Draft: Buccaneers go QB with lingering Brady retirement
You never know what Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots are going to do come draft day. This year they have quite a few needs across the board that they could address. They could bring in a corner to bolster their secondary or help their young quarterback Mac Jones with a lineman or a weapon on the outside. Instead, I went with a dynamic playmaker to put in the middle of Bill’s defense. Jamie Collins and Donta Hightower aren’t getting any younger, and Lloyd is an impressive athlete who can make plays all over the football field.
I can’t believe that a player like Tyler Linderbaum fell so far in this 2022 NFL Mock Draft. Linderbaum is a top-10 caliber player, but could fall in the 2022 NFL Draft just based on positional value and need. Here, he falls right into the lap of the Las Vegas Raiders who really impressed in 2021. With Linderbaum bolstering the offensive line, Derek Carr and the Raiders could make another run to the playoffs next season.
This is a bit of a luxury pick for the Arizona Cardinals. Arizona played really well throughout the 2021 NFL season and don’t have too many glaring holes in their roster. They may have some bigger needs than wide receiver, but at this point in this 2022 NFL Mock Draft the group of guys left were too good to pass up.
Current Cardinal receivers Christian Kirk and A.J. Green are set to be free agents this offseason, so receiver may be a bigger need than it appears. Especially if DeAndre Hopkins continues to struggle to stay on the field, the dynamic Arizona offense may need the depth. With Hopkins, Rondale Moore and Chris Olave from Ohio State, the Cardinals have three very talented options that all bring something unique to the table for head coach Kliff Kingsbury and quarterback Kyler Murray.
The Dallas Cowboys have a TON of players set to be free agents this offseason. They already have coaches saying that they want to come back to make another run at a Super Bowl, so many players may do the same. But who they decide to bring back (and who decides to come back) will shape their approach to the 2022 NFL Draft.
If they lose Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup and/or Cedric Wilson, the Cowboys could go wide receiver at this point in the 2022 NFL Draft. If they lose Damontae Kazee, Malik Hooker, and/or Jayron Kearse, they could go linebacker. If they lose Demarcus Lawrence or Randy Gregory, they will have to bring in another edge rusher, so that’s what they do here with versatile and powerful Georgia defensive lineman Travon Walker.
