2022 NFL Mock Draft: Buccaneers go QB with lingering Brady retirement
Another team who we, at this point, do not know who will be running their defense, the Denver Broncos also go with a versatile pass rusher in Purdue’s George Karlaftis. The football version of “The Greek Freak” is arguably the best power rusher in the 2022 NFL Draft and can play outside as a 4-3 defensive end or bump inside depending on what scheme the Broncos end up running on defense.
After addressing their offensive line earlier in this 2022 NFL Mock Draft, the New York Jets shift their attention to the defensive side of the ball. They go with the former five-star Clemson recruit, Andrew Booth Jr. who should be a lockdown outside corner at the next level. The Jets secondary was very bad last season and head coach Robert Saleh will certainly want that addressed early in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Here we have another quarterback off the board, with the Washington Football Team grabbing Ole Miss gunslinger Matt Corral. Corral’s tape is very fun to watch. He makes a lot of “wow” plays and throws with ease. He is a great runner and has great zip on his throws, especially for being a bit undersized. Whether he plays right away or they give him some time to recover from his knee injury, Matt Corral could be a great fit for the future of the Washington Football Team.
The Minnesota Vikings were a team that I struggled to make a selection for in this 2022 NFL Mock Draft. They could go in multiple different directions at this juncture. It’s hard to say what their new analytics front office led by general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah will be thinking on draft day.
They could get themselves a new quarterback and try to unload Kirk Cousins and his $35 million. They could go defense in the trenches or the secondary, or even add to their offensive line. Here, however, I have them adding likely the most dynamic player in the 2022 NFL Draft. A real speedster, adding Jameson Williams to the duo of Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen (who may not be around for much longer), defenses better watch out no matter who is throwing the ball.
