Buffalo Bills 2022 7-Round NFL Mock Draft: New CB2 and OLine Focus
By Evan Bachman
Round 1, 25th Overall: Roger McCreary, CB, Auburn
Yesterday’s game proved that despite the Buffalo Bills having a strong secondary that it still wasn’t good enough to slow down Patrick Mahomes. With the quarterback talent in the league today, any team contending for super bowls should make it a priority to have as many good corners as possible.
On top of that Levi Wallace is a free agent this offseason, so they may need to find a replacement. Roger McCreary is someone who has competed very well against high level competition so far in his career and would be a good addition to the Bills defense.
McCreary is a very complete corner as he’s got good ball skills, movement skills, and is a good tackler. Over his career he’s racked up six interceptions and 29 pass breakups. He’s been consistent over his whole career but his play this season has really solidified him as a first round pick in this year’s draft. He had a grade from PFF of 89.9, which was the best of any corner in the country.
Round 2, 57th Overall: Nicholas Petit-Frere, OT, Ohio State
The Bills offensive line doesn’t allow a lot of sacks, but that’s also due to Josh Allen’s athleticism and scrambling ability. On top of that, they struggle in run blocking, so offensive line has to be a priority for them this offseason.
Petit-Frere checks off a lot of the boxes of what you want to see from offensive tackle prospects. He’s a former five-star, he’s got a good combination of movement skills, hand usage, and strength, and he’s simply just produced very consistent play for a while at Ohio State.
Petit-Frere has played both left and right tackle for the Buckeyes and could play either in the NFL. For the Buffalo Bills, he’d be a good fit at right tackle.
Round 3, 89th Overall: Sam Williams, EDGE, Ole Miss
The Buffalo Bills had a good rotation of edge rushers this year, but with Jerry Hughes and Mario Addison both being free agents they may have to look to the draft to add some depth. Sam Williams could provide some pass rushing ability as a rotational edge rusher.
Williams isn’t great as a run stopper, but he provides a lot as a pass rusher. He has a relentless motor and good quickness around the edge, which allowed him to be dominant at Ole Miss this past season.
