Round 5, Pick 168: Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa, DL, Notre Dame

Pick Analysis. DL. Notre Dame. Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa. Scouting Report. 5. player. 819

As I said, the defensive line for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is going to be taken down to almost the studs. Vita Vea, Joe Tryon and Rakeem Nunez-Roches are the only ones under contract for next season as of now. If there’s a position to double-down on for the Bucs, it’s the defensive line.

Despite being at Notre Dame for five seasons, Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa played in just 39 games over that span, however that includes just one game during the 2018 season due to a broken foot. However, Tagovailoa-Amosa was named All-ACC Second Team in 2020 and a team captain in 2021.

If there’s one thing that Tagovailoa-Amosa showcased over the last three seasons it was consistency. He logged 23 tackles in 2019, 17 in 2020 and 26 in 2021. Tackles for loss were the same story with 2.5 in 2019, 5.5 in 2020 and 6.5 in 2021. Same goes for sacks with 0.5 in 2019 before having 2.5 in both 2020 and 2021.

The consistent tackling and increasing ability to get into the backfield makes Tagovailoa-Amosa an intriguing pick late in the draft. Adding him to a line with Vea and projected first round selection Devonte Wyatt could rejuvenate this Tampa Bay defensive line and help them not miss a beat while getting both younger and cheaper.
