2022 NFL Draft: Tampa Bay Buccaneers retool in 7-round mock draft
By Kyle Edmond
Round 3, Pick 91: Hassan Haskins, RB, Michigan
Reforming the Tampa Bay running game could be a tall task for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers front office. This is a pass-first offense, but having a strong running game to compliment the pass is a must. There’s a good chance that the team could still add veteran pieces, but as it currently stands Ke’Shawn Vaughn is the only running back on the roster for the 2022 season.
That means that the Bucs will be looking to replace Ronald Jones Jr., Leonard Fournette, Giovanni Bernard and Le’Veon Bell. Now, some of those guys could return but bolstering the rushing attack to take pressure of a 45-year old quarterback isn’t a bad idea.
Darian Kinnard was recognized as one of the best run-blockers in college football. Now, the Bucs add one of the most electric running backs in college football with Hassan Haskins.
Haskins was the driving force of the Michigan offense this past season and could provide a similar boost to the Buccaneers. Carrying the ball 270 times, Haskins totaled 1,327 rushing yards and an incredible 20 rushing touchdowns for the Wolverines. He also added 18 catches for 131 yards.
The duo of Vaughn and Haskins could replicate what Jones and Fournette gave the Bucs, leaving the role of Bernard left to fill. While having a pass-catching back is important, being able to cycle through two power backs could be just as valuable. That’s the potential that Vaughn and Haskins could present as a duo.
