The 2021 season was a roller coaster for Philadelphia Eagles fans. After a surprise playoff berth, Jalen Hurts and company are looking to reload and build upon their progress with a slew of draft picks.

The Philadelphia Eagles are in a unique — and envious — position with three first-round picks in the 2022 NFL Draft. Philadelphia fans can thank former Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz for one of those extra selections, as well as the Dolphins for trading up for Jaylen Waddle in the prior draft.

The 2021 season itself did not go as expected. After starting 2-5, it seemed as if the Eagles were destined to land in the top-five with their own pick. To much surprise, they finished the season with a roar.

The tone was changed with a newly established ground game and significant contributions from the defensive side of the ball. By winning seven of their last ten down the stretch, Philly was able to sneak into the playoffs as the seventh seed.

Their reward for such a valiant effort? A date with Tom Brady and the defending champions in Tampa Bay. Early on it was evident that the Eagles were simply outmatched.

After an up and down season, quarterback Jalen Hurts did not play well against the Buccaneers. He missed Quez Watkins early in the game for an easy touchdown and that set the tone. Todd Bowles’ defense shut down the run and Hurts was not able to make them pay, as he routinely fled the pocket before finishing his progressions.

Philadelphia Eagles 2022 Mock Draft: Roster Revamp

While the final game was discouraging, we must remind ourselves that Hurts and company far exceeded expectations. All the while battling frequent injuries across the offensive line. He showed enough promise to retain the starting job in Philly. Now that we know Hurts is staying put, let’s see who will join him in the City of Brotherly Love.
