Indianapolis Colts 7-Round 2022 NFL Mock Draft: Adding Playmakers
By Evan Bachman
Round 2, 47th Overall: Lewis Cine, S, Georgia
The Indianapolis Colts had a pretty good defense at all levels this year, however if there was a weakness it’s at safety.
Lewis Cine is one of many very good players on a Georgia defense that is perhaps one of the best we’ve ever seen in college football as they beat Alabama in Monday’s national championship game. Cine was named the defensive MVP of that game as he recorded seven tackles, one tackle for loss, and one pass breakup.
Cine is just a good safety all around as he’s very solid in run defense, coverage, and he’s a sure tackler who’s capable of some big hits.
He doesn’t necessarily have eye-popping athleticism or speed, but he has good speed and he takes good angles to ball carriers. Ultimately, that’s what you want in a safety, someone who is dependable and will make minimal mistakes and he provides that.
Round 3, 82nd Overall: Thayer Munford, OL, Ohio State
With multiple offensive linemen being free agents this offseason the Indianapolis Colts may need to add an offensive linemen. Thayer Munford would be a very viable option for them as he has experience playing both tackle and guard.
Munford was one of the best tackles in college football in 2020 as he allowed just three pressures all year. This season he made a move to left guard, so that Dewand Jones could start on the Buckeyes offensive line and didn’t have quite as strong of a season but still played well enough to warrant a day two pick.
