Round 4, 120th Overall: Luke Goedecke, OT, Central Michigan

Right tackle is a position the Los Angeles Chargers could address a lot earlier, perhaps even in the first round. Storm Norton was a big time issue this season and it’s tough to count on Bryan Bulaga in terms of health. The issue is the tackle class for the 2022 NFL Draft has a ton of questions when looking at day two players.

Central Michigan’s Luke Goedecke is an intriguing name in the middle rounds. He played on the right side opposite Bernhard Raimann in 2021, and the two were a very good duo in the MAC. Goedecke has strong hands, solid footwork, and does a great job maintaining balance and control in pass protection.

Round 5, 158th Overall: Tariq Woolen, CB, UTSA

After Samuel Jr. and Michael Davis, there really isn’t much in the cornerback room past the 2022 season. Again, this is another position the Chargers could look to earlier in the 2022 NFL Draft, but they get good value here in UTSA’s Tariq Woolen.

Woolen has consistently gotten better with the Roadrunners, and had an interception and five passes defensed in 2021. He played well in games against power five competition, showing off his stickiness in man coverage and ability to carry receivers vertically. He’s improved his run defense as well and could see some snaps in year one.
