Scouting Report. Jermaine Johnson II. player. 37. 10. Pick Analysis. EDGE. FSU

Round 2, 37th Overall: Jermaine Johnson II, EDGE, Florida State

Speaking of a second-tier EDGE falling to them, the Houston Texans would be ecstatic to land a player of FSU’s Jermaine Johnson caliber. The current Texans do not have an impact pass rusher and only had one player with more than 4 sacks, which was defensive end Jonathan Greenard who had 8.

While the Seminoles have been on a downslide over the past few seasons, Johnson was able to dominate the competition in 2021. He had a tremendous season resulting in him earning ACC defensive player of the year behind a season of 12 sacks, 18 tackles for loss, and 2 forced fumbles.

The Texans are in need of an impact pass rusher since JJ Watt’s last healthy season. Now the team could be in line to land one with Johnson.

He would line up with a defensive that only accounted for 32 sacks on the season and forced 29 turnovers on the seasons. The team also allowed 26.6 points per game.

The only question would be if Johnson will be available to be drafted here. The 6-foot-5 EDGE has the physical tools, stats, and upside to see his stock move him into the first round. If the Texans have a shot at him in the second round, they shouldn’t hesitate to make him the pick.
