Houston Texans build around Davis Mills in 2022 7-Round NFL Mock Draft
By Pablo Rosero
The Houston Texans showed slight promise around rookie quarterback Davis Mills in 2021 and should plan to build around him in 2022.
The Houston Texans 2021 season featured the fiasco surrounding Deshaun Watson that included trade rumors, a new head coach and general manager, questionable free-agent signings that didn’t make it to the end of the season. This bad situation does have a silver lining and that is Davis Mills.
On the season, Mills played 13 games and started 11 of those games throwing for 2,664 yards with 16 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Mills ended the season on a high note throwing for 301 yards and 3 touchdowns against the Tennessee Titans.
The team will likely head into 2022 with Mills as there is still major uncertainty around Watson playing in the NFL. Even if Watson is able to play, there is doubt that he’d ever play for the Texans again. If Watson is able to play in the NFL again, it’s likely that the team could deal him. Truthfully, it would benefit the team and likely add picks and talent to a somewhat depleted roster.

Although the team does have talent. Wideout Brandin Cooks led the way for the Texans, but corner Desmond King, rookie tight end Brevin Jordan, rookie wideout Nico Collins, offensive tackle Larmey Tunsil are among those talented players on the roster.
But with the third overall pick and nine total picks, the Texans could look to build off Mills’ rookie season and it would benefit them to do so.
