Pete Carroll, Seattle Seahawks

This could be a crucial offseason for the Seattle Seahawks. They have the opportunity to wipe the slate clean if they would so choose. Russell Wilson could be traded and Pete Carroll could be on the way out, ushering in a completely new era in Seattle.

Since arriving in Seattle, Carroll has gone 192-118 over 12 years entering the final week of the 2021 season. The Seahawks went to back-to-back Super Bowls in 2013 and 2014 and should have won both. Carroll and the Seahawks have had just three losing seasons, his first two and this year. Despite all that, this could be it.

At 70 years old, Carroll is the oldest active head coach in the league and one of the oldest head coaches in the history of the NFL. That coupled with the struggles of the team this season that will result in his worst season in Seattle could spell the end of his tenure with the Seahawks.

It’s hard to believe that Seattle would end the run after one bad season. This is the first time since 2017 that the Seahawks have fallen short of 10 wins or more, but the timing could just be right. The unrest of D.K. Metcalf, the trade rumors of Russell Wilson, it could all result in a new beginning in Seattle.
