Round 1, 14th Overall: Treylon Burks, WR, Arkansas

It’s fair to say that the Cleveland Browns will be paired with a wide receiver in mock drafts until April, and it’s a fair assumption. This team is in need of a WR1 in the offense. Donovan Peoples-Jones is still growing into his own, and Anthony Schwartz is really just a speed threat deep and in the screen/mesh game.

Garrett Wilson is a popular pick here, and he offers plenty in all three phases, but getting a bigger body with a wide catch radius for Mayfield to trust down the field makes more sense here in round one (yes, Wilson does a great job at the catch point but the point still stands).

Treylon Burks is the selection here for the Browns, and his rare skill set would be a welcome addition to the offense. There aren’t many players who move as fast as Burks does at 6’3″ and 225 pounds. His ability to accelerate and turn short gains into touchdowns after the catch is excellent. Burks also has the size, body control, and ball skills to thrive at the catch point and in the red zone. He’s a sound tracker of the football as well.

There are things to improve for Burks, especially expanding his route tree and becoming more comfortable on the perimeter. Still, if his hand usage gets better, he can thrive anywhere in Cleveland’s offense.
