2022 NFL Mock Draft: Three Tackles Go Top Five, Panthers Select QB
25. Buffalo Bills: Ahmad Gardner, CB, Cincinnati
The Buffalo Bills are peaking at a good time, but it’s a team that needs long-term help at offensive line and corner. For a team that rushes four and plays a ton of zone, getting a strong coverage guy opposite Tre White makes sense in this 2022 NFL Mock Draft.
Ahmad Gardner is the perfect zone corner who should thrive passing off zones and working back downhill. He has impressive ball skills and is a great tackler in space.
26. Cincinnati Bengals: Trevor Penning, OT, Northern Iowa
The Bengals have an incredible trio of pass catchers for Joe Burrow, but finishing off an offensive line rebuild is key to a team that has largely ignored it early. Trevor Penning could be a big 2022 NFL Draft process winner, and he could take over at tackle opposite Jonah Williams for a long time.
27. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Trent McDuffie, CB, Washington
With many players hitting free agency in 2022, the Bucs will have decisions to make. One of the casualties could be Carlton Davis, leaving a weakness in the secondary. Trent McDuffie can alleviate that weakness. He’s a strong competitor in man and zone coverage, possessing a hot motor and great tackling skills.
28. Detroit Lions (via LAR): Malik Willis, QB, Liberty
It’s hard to imagine the Detroit Lions don’t take a quarterback in the 2022 NFL Drat, despite Jared Goff’s best efforts. At the very least, getting a guy who can sit for a bit and take over down the road should happen, and it does in this 2022 NFL Mock Draft.
Malik Willis has an intriguing skill set, from a strong arm to great power and elusiveness as a runner. His processing needs to speed up, and he needs to clean up his turnovers, but Willis’ ceiling is extremely high.
