2022 NFL Mock Draft: Three Tackles Go Top Five, Panthers Select QB
1. Jacksonville Jaguars: Aidan Hutchinson, EDGE, Michigan
The Jaguars still sit with the top pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, and nothing changes here. Offensive line and receiver are still needs, but there’s no way to pass on the top edge rushers. Aidan Hutchinson would form a great bookend duo with Josh Allen to wreak havoc on quarterbacks for years to come.
2. Detroit Lions: Kayvon Thibodeaux, EDGE, Oregon
Picks one and two are pretty straightforward here in this 2022 NFL Mock Draft. The Detroit Lions have done a good job down the stretch, and Dan Campbell has a foundation to work with heading into 2022. Kayvon Thibodeaux is the missing piece on the front seven, a phenomenal athlete who has a great set of traits and is three-down ready.
3. Houston Texans: Evan Neal, OT, Alabama
Houston looks like they have something in Davis Mills, at least enough to give him a chance to earn the franchise quarterback honor in 2022. He’s done great work with little around him, but now it’s time to give Mills a better shot.
Evan Neal has played his best football at left tackle, but has taken snaps at right tackle (all of 2020). Neal has impressive athleticism, footwork, and a mauler mentality to form a great tackle duo with Laremy Tunsil to protect Mills.
4. New York Jets: Charles Cross, OT, Mississippi State
If Houston can do it, the Jets can too. Zach Wilson got a big confidence booster in beating the Jags Sunday, but the offensive line is still patchwork. It’s a popular pick in mocks right now, and a good one too. Charles Cross has impeccable balance, great hands, and the recovery skills to become an elite pass protector in the NFL. Cross, Mekhi Becton, and Alijah Vera-Tucker would be unreal on one line.
