Aggies Running Back Isaiah Spiller Declares For The 2022 NFL Draft
Texas A&M Aggies RB Isaiah Spiller has announced his intention to declare for the 2022 NFL Draft.
The running back class for the 2022 NFL Draft will be an interesting one. With no true consensus top player in the class, it could come down to team preference. One of the big names is officially in, as Aggies star RB Isaiah Spiller has declared for the 2022 NFL Draft.
The junior from Spring, Texas was part of a big recruiting class for the Aggies back in 2019. He made an instant impact on offense as a freshman, rushing for 946 yards and 10 touchdowns. Spiller passed the 1,000-yard mark in his next two seasons, and combined for 15 rushing touchdowns and adding a receiving touchdown in 2021. His 2021 production is especially impressive with players like Ainias Smith and Devon Achane in the room with him.
Spiller started the 2021 season as one of the top running backs in the 2022 class, and he finishes the season as many analysts’ RB1. He plays a fun brand of football, running behind his pads well and showing off great contact balance. His burst and quickness is sufficient as well, and he’s improved as a pass catcher, something that was necessary for him and what analysts believed he needed to improve upon. Spiller caught 25 passes this season, and made a couple receptions in contested spots and in big moments, one of which was to seal a win over upset-minded Colorado.
It’ll be interesting to see how the NFL views Isaiah Spiller, and how he does at the combine. The expectation is a 40 time around 4.50, which supports the argument that while his burst is enough, he isn’t a super explosive playmaker. Seeing Spiller become more creative would help his stock as well. Still, there’s a good chance he’s one of the first off the board for the 2022 NFL Draft due to the baseline traits and the three down ability he provides.
