Round 4, 110th Overall: Isheem Young, S, Iowa State

We haven’t forgot about the potential departure for Williams at safety, and that’s the next direction here for the New Orleans Saints. Finding someone who can handle duties in single high looks will be important, and they do here with Iowa State’s Isheem Young.

Young has played in some deep looks for the Cyclones, and has good recognition skills to boot. His play speed is sufficient, and his recognition skills offer an extra step, which is huge. He’s disruptive at the catch point and has a fantastic trigger working downhill, where he can be physical filling the alley.

Round 5, 152nd Overall: Emeka Emezie, WR, North Carolina State

Why not double down here at receiver? With Thomas and Williams set to be the top two guys in this scenario, they add Emeka Emezie here, who can operate on both the perimeter and in the slot. Emezie is a tough receiver with the contact balance to make plays after the catch. He’s also good at the catch point and thrives on back shoulder throws.

Round 7, 226th Overall: John Ridgeway, DL, Arkansas

The double up happens at defensive tackle as well to round out this Saints mock draft. They got their pass rusher earlier, and it’s time to finish with a big time run stopper. John Ridgeway does a great job holding his ground at the point of attack and will be able to free things up for Demario Davis and Pete Werner and only make the Saints run defense stronger.
