8. Philadelphia Eagles: George Karlaftis, Edge Rusher, Purdue

At this point, it seems unlikely that all three of the Philadelphia Eagles will be in the top 10 like they were projected to be earlier in the season. Unlike many of the teams who have used three first round picks in one draft, Philadelphia doesn’t have a lot of major needs across their roster. The Eagles have won three of their last five games and have shown that they have a roster capable of making the NFC playoffs this season. During that stretch, it appears Jalen Hurts has proven that the team should not look to upgrade the position during this offseason.

The Eagles may go with the best player available with their first selection in the first round unless a player who fills a need is available here that would not when they pick again. In this 2022 NFL Mock Draft, Philadelphia decides to add some youth to their defensive line by drafting Purdue defensive end George Karlaftis. Philadelphia could add to their defensive line considering that Brandon Graham and Ryan Kerrigan are going to be free agents.

At first glance, it appears that Karlaftis is not having a great season with only 4.5 sacks on the year. However, he is one of the best in the country at pressuring the quarterback. He specializes in making quarterbacks uncomfortable. Those pressures will result in sacks at the next level. It would be an easy transition for the Eagles to go from Brandon Graham to George Karlaftis. Adding a disruptor like this would ensure the Eagles continue to have one of the best defensive lines in the league.
