3. Jacksonville Jaguars: Kyle Hamilton, Safety, Notre Dame

This year has not been pretty for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Both new head coach Urban Meyer and 2021 first overall pick Trevor Lawrence are learning that it is a lot more difficult to perform at the NFL level than in college. Jacksonville still needs to add to this roster and continue to develop the young players on this roster that were selected to have major roles in the team’s future.

Jacksonville may take a long look at Evan Neal to give Lawerence more protection. But it would be hard to imagine Urban Meyer turning down the opportunity to add Kyle Hamilton to his defense. Outside of Josh Allen, it is hard to pinpoint players that the Jaguars have confidence in going forward. Hamilton is a playmaker that the Jaguars are lacking on that side of the ball. He is a do-it-all type of player this defense needs. Hamilton has a knack for being around the football. He can cover in both man and zone coverage along and could be used to rush the passer on blitz packages.

Besides his talent, the Jaguars may be interested in taking Hamilton because he does fill a need at safety. They drafted Andre Cisco in the third round of last year’s draft. But Jacksonville could take Hamilton to supplant Rayshawn Jenkins from his starting role.

After this 2022 NFL Mock Draft the Jaguars have some players on the defensive side of the ball that could develop into long-term starters for them in Kyle Hamilton, Tyson Campbell, Andrew Wingard, Andre Cisco, and Davon Hamilton to go along with veterans Josh Allen, Shaquil Griffin, DaWuane Smoot, Roy Robertson-Harris, and Myles Jack.
