28. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Treylon Burks, Wide Receiver, Arkansas

Last offseason the Tampa Bay Buccaneers did the near-impossible by returning all 22 of their starters to their team following their Super Bowl Bowl victory. That is a huge reason why they are favorites to return to the Super Bowl this season. But this offseason it may not be so easy to retain all the vital players on this roster that are expected to name free agency. A couple of players from Tampa Bay that are expected to hit free agency include Jason Pierre-Paul, Ryan Jensen, Ndamukong Suh, Rob Gronkowski, Leonard Fournette, Richard Sherman, Carlton Davis, Antonio Brown, and Chris Godwin. The Buccaneers are tasked with replacing as many of those players as possible in this 2022 NFL Mock Draft.

Tampa Bay’s needs will change depending on who they retain and sign in free agency. The most vital position group for Tampa Bay’s success that could take a big hit this offseason is wide receiver. The Buccaneers’ success comes from their high-powered offense that is led by their extremely talented receiver group. Both Antonio Brown and Chris Godwin are unrestricted free agents this offseason. Brown could take a hometown discount considering his age and relationship with Tom Brady. But Chris Godwin may sign with the team that offers him the largest contract this offseason.

If Chris Godwin leaves the Buccaneers this offseason then Tampa Bay would need a big slot receiver to fill his role. There is no better fit in this draft than Arkansas wide receiver Treylon Burks replacing Chris Godwin in this Buccaneers offense. Now there is no guarantee that Burks will be able to replicate Godwin’s production early on. Godwin is not only one of the best slot receivers but one of the best overall wide receivers in the league.

Burks is bigger than Chris Godwin at 6’3″ and 225 pounds. Similar to Godwin he has the ability to make large plays and stretch the defense despite primarily lining up in the slot. He isn’t particularly great in one area but can do whatever is needed of him.

If Burks is drafted by Tampa Bay to replace Chris Godwin he would have some large shoes to fill. But he is talented enough to fill that role and could have the opportunity to have a major role for one of the league’s most dangerous offenses.
