25. Dallas Cowboys: Drake London, Wide Receiver, USC

Now that Dak Prescott is healthy the Cowboys are playing up to their true potential on offense. The key to their success this season has been the production they have gotten on the defensive side of the ball. Defensive coordinator Dan Quinn has this defense playing at a high level within one season being a part of this coaching staff.

The Dallas Cowboys don’t have many major holes on their roster. So they could go in a couple of different directions with this pick. However not many would expect Dallas to take a wide receiver with their first-round pick. Dallas has a couple of important free agents this offseason including Randy Gregory, Dalton Schultz, Leighton Vander Esch, Keanu Neal, Connor Williams, and Michael Gallup. Out of the players just listed Gallup feels like the least likely to return to Dallas because it may not be worth it to resign Gallup at market price with Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb already on the roster.

This season Dallas’ offense has been almost unstoppable when they have had all three of their top receiver on the field. This is because it allows CeeDee Lamb to line up in the slot where he is almost impossible to cover. If Dallas wants to keep Lamb in the slot long-term where he plays at his best they should invest in a receiver to line up on the outside opposite Amari Cooper.

In this 2022 NFL Mock Draft, the Dallas Cowboys take USC wide receiver Drake London. Dallas has a couple of wide receiver options available at this point that they could take. They go with London over the other receivers available because he best fits what Dallas could be looking for in a Gallup replacement. At 6’5″ he is the most likely to transition to the outside at the next level. He could be the 50/50 ball receiver Dallas lacks on the outside. If London hadn’t broken his ankle he may have been selected earlier in the draft. Dallas likes to take chances on players with upside. So they could look at what London was able to do when he was healthy and view him as a steal this late in the draft.

If Dallas gave Dak Prescott a wide receiver group made up of CeeDee Lamb, Amari Cooper, and Drake London he could be a favorite to win MVP next season. That high-powered offense could give Dallas a chance at a Super Bowl next season.
