20. Los Angeles Chargers: Jordan Davis, Defensive Tackle, Georgia

At times this year, the Los Angeles Chargers have shown that they have as good of a chance as anybody to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl this year. However, this team has been able to have to consistently have that type of performance every week. There are a couple of things the Chargers need to fix in order to be considered a legitimate Super Bowl contender next season. The biggest weakness on this roster is has been their run defense.

Los Angeles has been one of the worst teams in the league this season at defending against the run. If Los Angeles has the opportunity to draft one of the best run-defenders in the country in Georgia defensive tackle Jordan Davis as they do in this 2022 NFL Mock Draft, they should pounce on it.

Davis is one of the major reasons why Georgia has the best defense in college football. He is a massive human being listed at 6’6″ and 330 lbs. That size allows Davis to plug up running lanes with ease. He is also solid at creating pressure on passing plays.

So not only can Davis help clog running lanes, but he can also open up opportunities for Chargers pass rushers like Joey Bosa to get after the quarterback similar to how Ndamukong Suh does for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Los Angeles will have a need on the interior of their defensive line because veteran Linval Joseph is expected to hit free agency and 2019 first-round pick Jerry Tillery has not been great since joining the team.

Taking a defensive tackle may not be the most exciting pick the Chargers could make in the first round. However, Jordan Davis could be a real difference-maker for a young defense that has the potential to be one of the better units in the league very soon.
