2022 NFL Mock Draft: Edge Rushers Fly Off The Board, 3 QBs In Round 1
By Evan Bachman
19. New Orleans Saints: Chris Olave, WR, Ohio State
With Michael Thomas out for this season, the Saints have shown they certainly could use some more pass catchers to compliment him. Luckily for them, the wide receivers have fallen a bit in this 2022 NFL mock draft, so they get their chose between Chris Olave and Drake London.
Olave is an excellent route-runner, as he’s smooth, very quick in and out of his breaks, and is capable of winning on routes to all levels of the field. Also, his hands are as dependable as it gets, as he simply just catches everything within his reach.
He is someone who could have been a first-rounder had he entered last year’s draft. However, he made the decision to come back to the Buckeyes for his senior year and had an opportunity to really boost his draft stock.
20. Minnesota Vikings: Trent McDuffie, CB, Washington
The Vikings are already pretty weak at corner, and on top of that Patrick Peterson’s only on a one year deal, so it’d be smart of them to capitalize on a cornerback class that is very strong. They do so in this 2022 NFL Mock Draft.
When evaluating corners going from college to the NFL, it’s important that the player has proven to be consistent in coverage and Trent McDuffie has done just that. He also is a very good tackler in open space, which is a plus. In all three of his seasons so far, McDuffie has received an 80+ grade on PFF, which is very impressive.
