Edge rushers, offensive linemen, and corners fly off the board, while just three quarterbacks come off the board in round one of this 2022 NFL mock draft.

With the Thanksgiving games in the rear view mirror, we’re already past the midway point of the NFL season and we’ve already passed the final week of the regular season in college football. December is a short wait away, and the stretch run is here in the NFL season. It seems like football season always flies by, and the draft process will be upon us soon, so now is a good time to look ahead to April’s draft in this 2022 NFL mock draft.

In this 2022 NFL Mock Draft, edge rushers come off the board early and often, while just three quarterbacks are selected in the first round. Offensive linemen are a hot commodity in what feels like a shallower class, and corners fly off the board as well. Let’s dive in to this latest 2022 NFL Mock Draft.

1. Detroit Lions: Kayvon Thibodeaux, EDGE, Oregon

The Detroit Lions currently sit in an interesting position as they have a clear need at quarterback, however there most likely isn’t a quarterback worth selecting first overall. Ultimately, I think the Lions will opt to select the best player available, regardless of position.

Kayvon Thibodeaux certainly has a very strong claim for being the top player in this draft class.  Nothing is ever set in stone this far from the draft, however it seems to be pretty unanimous that he’s the best player in the draft, so it would not be a surprise at all if he hears his name first on draft night.

As a former highly-rated 5-star recruit, Kayvon Thibodeaux has looked like a top-five pick since his high school days and that’s been apparent since he set foot in Eugene and registered 10 sacks as a freshman.

He possesses eye-popping talent, right when you flip on the tape you can easily tell why he was such a highly sought-after recruit. The ceiling for him is sky-high as he has an elite blend of speed, quickness, power, and size. This season he has further cemented his case to be the number one overall pick as he has pressured the quarterback consistently all season.
