Breece Hall treated the Iowa State fans to a special night in what could be his final game in Ames as the 2022 NFL Draft looms.

It wasn’t the season that the Iowa State faithful were hoping for in 2021, but it was another solid year in the tenure of Matt Campbell. The Cyclones finished fourth in the conference and were competitive in every game this season. Running back Breece Hall was again the driving force on offense, and gave the fans a heck of a curtain call Friday afternoon.

The Cyclones downed the TCU Horned Frogs 48-14 on the back of good defense and a phenomenal game from Hall, who rushed for 242 yards on 18 carries and three touchdowns. Hall also caught a touchdown and racked up 39 yards receiving.

It’s been an amazing career for Hall at Iowa State. His 242 yards rushing and four touchdowns were career highs, and he broke a 51-year-old NCAA record by rushing for a score in 24 consecutive games. He’s had back-to-back seasons of 1400+ rushing yards and has stepped up his receiving ability every year.

Now, the focus for Hall will be determining if he sticks around for another year or heads to the 2022 NFL Draft. Hall’s accomplishments speak for themselves, and the tape is pretty good too. He has a great feel for cutback lanes, and he processes quickly while having patience at the line of scrimmage. He’s creative in space to freeze defenders and make them miss, can break tackles with the best of them, and has sufficient burst in space to rip off chunk yardage.

The 2022 NFL Draft is likely the best option for Breece Hall, as there really isn’t a standout RB1 for most analysts and draft nerds right now. Capitalizing on a weaker class rather than getting lost in the shuffle of a potentially elite 2023 class makes the most sense. If that is it for Hall in a Cyclones uniform, it’s been a fantastic ride.
