The Senior Bowl has its first accepted invite in Connecticut DL Travis Jones, who is one to watch for the 2022 NFL Draft.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year (for those who wait for after Thanksgiving for all things Christmas, don’t worry, it’s not what I’m talking about)! As the college football season winds down the 2022 NFL Draft talk will escalate, and the first step in that process is the All-Star games!

The headliner for those All-Star games is the Reese’s Senior Bowl, although the Shrine Bowl in Las Vegas should get more hype. However, it’s clear to see the Senior Bowl is still the class with the plethora of accepted invites so far. The first of those was Connecticut defensive lineman Travis Jones.

Jones is an intriguing talent in what is likely another down year for the position. After DeMarvin Leal and Jordan Davis (depending on what you designate for Leal) there are questions at the position. Who can be the next to emerge in the class? We may just find out down in Mobile, and Jones could be one of them.

At 6’5″ and 333 pounds, Jones is an ideal player to sit in the one-technique and eat up space. He’s got the refined power to hold the point of attack, and impresses with some flashes of quickness at the snap. He’s displayed some production as a pass rusher as well, with 3.5 sacks this season in addition to 6.5 tackles for loss.

Now, there isn’t much value placed on nose tackles much anymore, and it’s likely not to change in the 2022 NFL Draft. But, if Travis Jones can show a bit more in Mobile as a pass rusher, he could be someone who moves up some draft boards into the middle of day two and be a big time winner during the week.
