Secondary

Cornerback: Patrick Surtain II, Broncos

Patrick Surtain has been fantastic this season, and like Slater, looks like a vet out there. Speed has given him some trouble, but he’s been physical and patient at the line and is frustrating receivers at the catch point, using the sideline to his advantage and staying in great position.

Cornerback: Greg Newsome II, Browns

Yeah, he hasn’t played as much as others on the list, but there’s a reason that Greg Newsome was ranked highly early in the NFL Rookie Rankings. He’s so fluid, technically sound, and has done well against top competition. He stuck with Chase last week in a great effort and came away with three PBUs on the day.

Nickel/Flex: Asante Samuel Jr., Chargers

Nate Hobbs has an argument here for sure, but Asante Samuel has played solid on the perimeter to this point. Some of his best reps came against the Cowboys and Chiefs, who boast top tier talent at receiver. Samuel has the ball production to boot and has thrived due to his recognition skills.

Safety: Jevon Holland, Dolphins

It was a little confusing when Jevon Holland was picked by the Dolphins, but he’s been one of their best defenders this year. Holland has transitioned well to play single high when asked to do so, and is a phenomenal player near the line of scrimmage with his play recognition and reliable tackling skills.

Safety: Trevon Moehrig, Raiders

After drafting three safeties, one was bound to pan out right? All kidding aside, Trevon Moehrig hasn’t been mentioned much because he’s doing his job in this Vegas defense. He’s moving all over the field and has been great in zone coverage.
