2022 NFL Draft Big Board: Top 100 Features Defensive Prospects Rising
41. Zion Johnson, OL, Boston College
After moving back inside this season, it’s easy to see how Zion Johnson can be a top 50 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Johnson works well to the second level and is extremely stout in pass protection.
42. Brandon Joseph, S, Northwestern
The 2021 season hasn’t been the best for Brandon Joseph, but he’s got the range and great ball production (eight interceptions in 2020) to work on the roof of a defense.
43. Drake Jackson, EDGE, USC
Drake Jackson has had a lot of hype for the 2022 NFL Draft, mostly based on athletic traits. He’s got the speed and change of direction skills, but his counters and run defense need work. Teams will still bet on the potential.
44. Breece Hall, RB, Iowa State
Breece Hall is still the 2022 NFL Draft RB1, and it seems like he rips off a big touchdown run every week. His burst is good, he breaks tackles well, and has the vision and patience combination to be a successful early down back.
45. Ainias Smith, Offensive Unicorn, Texas A&M
Ainias Smith looks like a younger version of Nyheim Hines. His burst, explosion, and agility make for a dynamic runner and great slot receiver. He can be a matchup nightmare at the next level with that level of versatility.
46. Isaiah Spiller, RB, Texas A&M
Isaiah Spiller lives off of burst and contact balance, but he’s getting much better as a receiver. He made some big plays in the Colorado game and improving as a route runner out of the backfield.
47. Kenny Pickett, QB, Pittsburgh
Kenny Pickett has played phenomenal football this season, and has the potential to be a first round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. His poise, ball placement, and feel for pressure have all improved, and he’s in the midst of a special season with Pitt.
48. Martin Emerson, CB, Mississippi State
Martin Emerson is a strong, physical corner who can thrive in both zone and man coverage. He attacks and closes well to drive on routes, and possesses very good footwork.
49. Trey McBride, TE, Colorado State
Trey McBride is the new TE1 on this 2022 NFL Draft Big Board, and his production has been great this year with the Rams. He uses his size and strength to separate at the top of his routes and has the frame to win at the catch point.
50. Kenneth Walker III, RB, Michigan State
Kenneth Walker III is breaking tackles at will this season, and shows quick processing skills and efficient lateral cuts to make defenders miss. His burst is good and he has a true nose for the end zone.
