Philadelphia Eagles 2022 Mock Draft: Building Around Jalen Hurts
By Evan Bachman
After a 3-5 start, Philadelphia Eagles fans are keeping an eye on the 2022 NFL draft in April where they’ll have multiple first round picks.
The Philadelphia Eagles are coming off a 44-6 blowout win against the Lions, however overall they have been underwhelming this season as they sit at 3-5 as we approach the mid point of the season.
Probably the biggest question surrounding the Philadelphia Eagles this season is whether Jalen Hurts can be long term answer at quarterback. So far, even though their record isn’t great I think Hurts has proven himself and that the Eagles are in good hands with him as the signal caller for the future.
That being said, I still wouldn’t rule out the possibility of the Philadelphia Eagles taking a quarterback in the first round, especially considering they’ll have two or three first rounders. However this quarterback class isn’t as strong as recent ones have been, so as of right now I don’t think they’ll go in that direction and will instead chose to build up this roster around Hurts.
Luckily, through a couple of smart trades the Philadelphia Eagles are loaded with draft capital that they can use to add some key pieces to this team.
Last year, following the Dolphins trade back with the 49ers they traded back up from 12th to 6th with the Eagles, and in doing so they gave up their first-round pick in this year’s draft. This was an excellent move for the Eagles as they were still able to get one of the draft’s top three receivers in Devonta Smith and they get an extra first-rounder in this year’s draft.
The other potential first-rounder for the Eagles is via the Colts. The pick can be either a first-round pick or a second-round pick, if Carson Wentz plays at least 75% of the Colts offensive snaps or if he plays 70% and the Colts make the playoffs it’ll be a first-rounder, if not it’ll be a second-rounder.

So as things stand right now, since Wentz has played more 75% of the Colts’ offensive snaps the Philadelphia Eagles would have three first round picks all in the top ten picks at third overall, eighth overall, and ninth overall.
