Round 2, 45th Overall: Lewis Cine, S, Georgia

The Minnesota Vikings secondary is clearly the focus here early, and that includes the safety position. Like it or not, Harrison Smith isn’t at the level he once was. Signing Xavier Woods was a patchwork move, so this defense needs another playmaker on the back end.

Why not get one from the Georgia Bulldogs? Lewis Cine is an extremely talented safety in a deep class. He’s got impressive range to play on the back end, but what sticks out most is his ability to quickly recognize what’s going on in front of him and react to make plays, whether it be tackles in space or breaking up passes. Cine has been an important part of the Georgia defense and would be for the Vikings as well.

Round 3, 76th Overall: Travon Walker, DL, Georgia

Back to the Georgia team for this third round selection. Danielle Hunter has dealt with a ton of injuries, most recently a torn pectoral muscle which will end his 2021 season. The Vikings brought back Everson Griffen for a year, and they have unproven talent on the edge behind them.

Travon Walker should be getting more attention in the 2022 NFL Draft. He’s a versatile defensive lineman capable of working in multiple alignments. He’s got the athleticism to rush the passer and drop into coverage, and his explosion, strength, and length make him a factor wherever he plays.
