2022 NFL mock draft: Malik Willis lands with Texans, Corners Fly Off
By Evan Bachman
16. Kansas City Chiefs: Andrew Booth Jr., CB, Clemson
With one of the worst defenses in all of football, it’s been shown this season that they have to get better on that side of the ball if Patrick Mahomes is going to add more super bowl rings to his collection.
Andrew Booth Jr. is projectable as a corner as he’s got solid size (6-foot-0, 195 pounds), very good length, and good movement skills, not to mention unreal ball skills at the catch point. While Clemson has taken a big step back this season, Booth Jr. is a big part of a defense that is giving up under 15 points per game.
17. Atlanta Falcons: Kingsley Enagbare, EDGE, South Carolina
With Dante Fowler Jr. heading into free agency this offseason, the Falcons have a pretty big need for edge rushers. Kingsley Enagbare has been dominant rushing the passer over his time at South Carolina and deserves to be a sure fire first round pick. He is in this 2022 NFL Mock Draft.
Engbare is so good as a pass rusher because he’s capable of winning in a variety of ways. He can use his strength to just throw offensive linemen out of the way, can use his quickness to bend the edge, and can use quickness with a quick hand slap.
Enagbare’s 93.4 pass rush grade on PFF is the best in college football this season.
18. Pittsburgh Steelers: Charles Cross, OT, Mississippi State
The Steelers are yet another team who could be looking at taking a quarterback, however again with this class not being as strong as past ones have been, in this position with both Willis and Corral off the board in this 2022 NFL mock draft I think they’ll go with other options for quarterbacks and instead address one their other needs in the draft.
It’s been pretty clear that besides quarterback, the biggest need for the Steelers is offensive line. Drafting Charles Cross would give them someone who can come right in and start at tackle.
Charles Cross certainly fits the mold to be a left tackle in the NFL as he has plus size, plus strength, and he moves well. He has been very consistent for Mississippi State this season, solidifying himself as a first rounder.
